1. Roulette the Game

Roulette is the only casino game that gives players near 50-50 odds on a single bet and an excellent chance of winning as they play Indian roulette. The dealer drops a ball into a revolving wheel, and players bet on where that ball will eventually come to rest.

In American Roulette, there are 38 numbers, where half the numbers are red and half are black. In addition, half the numbers are even and the other half are odd. The European wheel lacks that infamous double zero that gives the American game a house advantage.

2. The Best Roulette Bets

The best roulette bet by far is the red or black, evens or odds, and 1-18 (low) or 19-36 (high). This strategy covers 48 percent of the options on the wheel but has the lowest ratio payout at 1-1. Play columns, and you slightly up the ante with a 2-1 ratio payout.

The third best roulette bet is the black and third column or red and second column. This method is designed for people who like to hedge their bets for slow, steady gains.

If you’re the kind of gambler that likes to win big, go straight up. This strategy comes with a high risk, but betting on a single number pays out a 35-1 ratio, if Lady Luck is on your side.

The final best bet is the split bet that involves placing chips on any two numbers that are next to one another on the felt. While not as risky as the straight-up wager, the payout is still a lucrative 17-1 ratio.

3. The Martingale

One of the most well-known roulette strategies is the Martingale. The idea behind this method of play is a simple one: You have to win sooner or later. This system works well with an even money game such as the red or black bet discussed above. By betting double after a loss, you hope to win enough to cover all losses, plus one.

4. The Paroli System

The Paroli is a reverse Martingale and praised by many a gambler. This positive progression method is designed for even money wagers. The focus is on raising your bets whenever you manage to generate a win.

This 100-year old strategy is a tried-and-tested betting system that aims to increase the player’s profits by taking advantage of winning streaks.

5. Dealer Signatures

Dealer signatures are another method that players use to gain an edge in roulette. To overcome the house edge, which is 2.7 percent on the European wheel, you can try predicting the ball’s final resting spot based on the dealer’s release technique.

Also called sector slicing, bets are placed on whether the dealer will hit a specific section of a wheel. Often a dealer adopts a routine of spinning and releasing the ball the same way each time. Betting on the numbers in that section gives the player an edge.

When it all comes down to it, roulette is a glamorous, exciting, and ridiculously entertaining game. It’s intended to be fun, and ultimately, your odds of winning are up to chance.
