Jumanji: The Video Game review

Jumanji: The Video Game was launched by SonyEntertainment with the collaboration of BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, publisher Outright Games, and UK-based development studio Funsolve. The game is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The price of the game is $40.

The Game is inspired by the movie Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The Game has 4 areas with 5 levels to play. Players can play any character from the four main characters from the movie: Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon, Franklin “Mouse” Finbar or Ruby Roundhouse. Just like the movie, Each character has one unique ability, which will come in handy when playing a level and facing enemies. The gameplay involves collecting four pieces of an artifact to open a door that leads to an obelisk that uses the power of the artifacts to charge up and open another door.

Players can play it with a team or they can play it alone with AI. The game seems easy, players can kill the enemies by shooting them. A player can cross each levels without much difficulties even in the highest difficulty setting. Once players reach the obelisk, though, things get more complicated, because more enemies attack while the obelisk is charging. Here the main character can hand off artifact pieces to other players, too, which is generally helpful. After a point the game seems repetitive.

Jumanji has flat gameplay, the AI is bad and the visuals are not so good. The Game lacks the excitement and the humor that the movie had. The character design of the game is decent, they match the characters from the movie. The voice-over of characters is also good. It seems the game was made just to promote the upcoming Jumanji movie.
