Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain released back in 2015 was Konami’s was the last worthwhile, major console game from Konami. Ever since then, Konami shifted its focus onto Pro Evolution Soccer and Yu-Gi-Oh titles, thereby, canceling games such as Silent Hills. Even though Konami hasn’t developed console focused games since long apart from annual updates on its very famous Pro Evolution Soccer(now eFootball PES), the company has seen a consecutive growth for five consecutive years, solely because of mobile games. But now, Konami is planning a big move as it might break its ways and release a big Metal Gear game on next-gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.

European president Masami Saso told GI.biz that while the company has nothing to announce on the likes of Metal Gear or Silent Hill, it sees the console space as important and is currently working on unannounced projects based on “globally known” IP.

“Even with new platforms coming out, we believe high-end console games are the most important,” Saso said. “We challenge for innovative ideas and technology within our console games and apply them to other devices, so we will continue to put effort into our console games.”

Even though nothing is definitive as of now but Konami once again turning its attention towards console gaming is exciting news for gaming fans.

Konami’s eFootball PES 2020 is the latest upcoming game from the company which is set to be released this month. However, you can try your hands on the demo version of the game which is live now.
