Microsoft announces Nether update for Minecraft

Minecraft Earth is Microsoft’s upcoming augmented reality (AR) mobile game. The closed beta has already been live on iOS devices in select locations for some time now. However, for the first time, Microsoft and the game creator Mojang whom Microsoft acquired for $2.5 billion back in 2014, finally released the closed beta version on Android devices last month. The beta was made available for people who had earlier registered and is available in five cities including LondonMexico CitySeattleStockholm, and Tokyo. And now, finally, Mojang and Microsoft have decided that Minecraft Earth will be available in “early access” for some countries starting from October alongside the Nether update.

Microsoft announced during the online Minecon 2019 event that its Augmented Reality title Minecraft Earth is all set to be rolled out publicly as a part of early access in selected countries in October. Microsoft also revealed that Minecraft will soon Nether Update with new biomes and Piglin Beast mobs. Here’s what to expect from the Nether update:

Nether as most of the Minecraft fans must be familiar with is a well below surface location which can be accessed only through Nether portals. And now, the dark place has received limelight from the creators as the next update would be will add new biomes and new mob enemies to the location.

Nether update will introduce us to two new biomes:

  • The Soulsand Valley which features blue fog, blue fire, soul sands, and fossils and,
  • The Netherwart Forest which features red or blue and is a deep forest with Nether fungi.

Moreover, the update will bring in a new army of enemies, namely Piglins. Piglins will attack the player automatically but are passive to gold armor. A more powerful version of these creatures called Piglin Beasts are also set to arrive with the new update.

However, we still have no confirmation on the exact release date of the update but seeing Microsoft and Mojang’s excitement, fans can expect it to hit the servers anytime in October. Here’s how the fans reacted to the new update announcement:
