Microsoft recently announced the release of Xbox Series X and S as the biggest Xbox launch ever, although they have not provided any specific sales figures.

Xbox Series X and Series S went for sale on 10th November internationally. Despite getting launched in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, Xbox has beaten all the previous console launch records with new systems, as stated by Xbox head Phil Spencer.

A tweet from Spencer thanked the community for the biggest launch in Xbox history and also added that within 24 hours, more new consoles were sold in more countries than ever before.

He addressed that the present stock shortages because many fans are scrambling to get orders of the new Xbox series consoles as soon as they go live.

The XSX has the advantage of initially launching in 37 countries which is aroudn three times as many as the Xbox One launch in 2013.

The company has stopped divulging information about individual sales since 2015, a part which Spencer identifies as a normal strategy to focus on player numbers rather than units shipped.

Sony has sold around 113 million consoles during the PS4 lifecycle and it will be interesting to see how many Xbox Series consoles and PS5 consoles have been sold worldwide during the launch period.
