Two of the tech giants Microsoft and Google have come together to amaze the gaming enthusiasts once agains as Microsoft is now enabling Google’s Assistant to work with its Xbox One console. The new integration is already running for beta testing now and is, therefore, available in English only for now. However, both the companies are working on the expansion to support other languages.
Ever since the arrival of Assistants like Alexa, Google, Siri, and others, we humans have had our great deal of work eased off. We can perform our simple tasks like listening to music, watching our favourite TV show, with just a command now. In a similar attempt, Microsoft has now integrated Google Assistant with Xbox One which is live for beta testing. With this integration, now Xbox owners will be able to access their consoles with just a ‘Hey Google’ command. However, you’ll need to use the Google Assistant app for iOS or Android or a device like Google’s Home with Assistant on it to control an Xbox One. Google Assistant won’t run on the Xbox One itself; instead, it will receive commands from other devices running Assistant.
Since this is just the beta testing phase, not all the features are open for now. These are the features available currently:
- Turning the console on or off,
- Launching games and apps,
- Pausing and resuming,
- Adjusting volume and
- Taking screenshots.
The integration is scheduled to roll out for all Xbox One consoles this fall.
