The Oculus Quest 2 VR Headset has been finally launched by Facebook. The features have been improved and it is priced at $299. The device was initially planned to be launched by the end of 2020. However, the device is complete and now it will be launched before the deadline.
The Oculus Quest 2 has been powered by Snapdragon XR2. Qualcomm has made this platform particularly for devices witj virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) devices. The device has 6GB RAM for better AR visuals and is being considered a big evolution in the last few years.
Oculus Quest 2 comes with a display supporting 1832×1920 pixels resolution with 90Hz refresh rate. Facebook has however stated that the support is limited to 72Hz refresh rate. The design is a bit different than the others. The weight has been reduced by around 10% as a result of which users can wear them for longer duration. There is a soft-touch strap which provides the experience of VR without any problem. Oculus has stated that the controllers with Quest 2 can last hours longer than its predecessor.
Users have to log in to Facebook for using Quest 2. The VR headset has two variants – 64GB storage priced at $299 and 256GB storage priced at $399. Oculus would take pre-orders from this week and shipping would start from next month. But unfortunately for now, the headsets won’t be released in the Indian markets. Still, its better to expect it sometime in the future.
