Overwatch-season-18-delayed

Overwatch, as most of you know, is a team-based multiplayer first-person-shooter game. It is a Blizzard Entertainment publication, released on May 24th, 2016 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows. Overwatch disintegrates players into two teams of six players each. Moreover, each player can select a ‘hero’ from a list of over 30 characters, each possessing a different style of play. Just recently, Blizzard was all set to launch Season 18 of the game after a two-week beta testing of role-queue ended. However, the release has been delayed due to a matchmaking bug.

The bug forced even Grandmaster players to be matched with golds during placement matches. Even after completing the five role-specific placement games, even professional gamers were placed in low tiers. The bug was noticed just a few minutes after the Role Queue went live. This seems to be a result of Blizzard resetting the players’ skill ratings, also known as MMR. Furthermore, this reset is resulting in uneven matchmaking, where even players from Bronze tier are being matched with Grandmasters, thereby, damaging player experience.

Many professional players took to Twitter to post the mishappening and express their frustration:
