PUBG Mobile India release for Android phones; unofficial teaser states that countdown has begun

PUBG Mobile is surely making its comeback to India as a specifically tailored version for Indians known as PUBG Mobile India and it may come sooner than being expected. A tweet shared by PUBG Mobile India fan club account states that the game will be available for download in a few hours on Google Play Store and as an APK download separately for Android devices. PUBG Mobile India has not released any statement on these developments today, or when the game actually releases, and it is still not clear if the game could be available to download and play as soon as later today. It has been just a few days since the return of PUBG Mobile in India was confirmed in a new avatar known as PUBG Mobile India and time has stood still for PUBG fans since then.

The tweet from PUBG Mobile India fan club account reads that “Countdown begins. Few hours to go!”. A picture has been added in the teaser which showed that the game will be available on Google Play Store and for APK download separately. It does not show anything about the Apple App Store or an iOS version of the game which means that the game is being launched initially only for Android users. It is unknown when the game will be rolled out for iPhone gamers. This early rollout will be a good news for those who have been affected from government’s ban on the popular battle royale game. It was also reported that the existing gamer IDs that users had for PUBG Mobile before its ban will be carried forward for PUBG Mobile India as well. This means that users don’t have to create a separate ID when they start to play PUBG Mobile India and can carry forward all achievements, rewards, skins and more. PUBG Corporation and parent company KRAFTON have been working with Microsoft to use Microsoft Azure cloud services to host the PUBG Mobile game data.

Ahead of the launch, PUBG Mobile has proved to be immensely popular according to the pre-registration numbers unveiled earlier. Mobile gaming and game sharing community TapTap said that PUBG Mobile India registered 200,000 pre-registrations which is more than the pre-registration numbers of FAU-G which is an Indian alternative of PUBG that aimed to fill the void that was left after PUBG was banned in September 2020.
