Sony is officially prepared to announce the pricing of the PlayStation 5 console and Bloomberg has stated that there might be some possible trouble behind the scenes. Sony has slashed the production forecast from 15 million units to 11 million.
Poor yields of the custom SoC which powers the console were reported as a reason but Sony has denied these reports as well. Bloomberg initially reported some early targets which were lower than 5-6 million and so its very hard to guess anything for now.
However it is being expected that Sony will definitely be able to make large number of PS5 consoles to meet the consumers demand during holiday season. Their rival Microsoft is launching $300/€300 Xbox Series S and $500/€300 Series X on 10th November. Nintendo has also teased a 4K version of Switch set to be launched in 2021.
