The 2020 year a bliss for the gaming industry. The upcoming consoles from Sony and Microsoft are set to change the resolution of gaming, but there could be a jerk. Sony states that it is not going to release many units PS5. Reports say that this can increase the cost of the console this year.

A new console is always in very high stipulation when it’s launched. Gamers want to be prioritized to have a taste of the new technology. Looking at the before launches, it is apparent that sales are sky-high in the initial phase of the release. However, this phase may be different.

Sony to Release Fewer PlayStation 5 Units

the stock which makes the gammers think the price may be high than anticipated.

Bloomberg reports that Sony is planning on limiting the units they will release in the first two-quarters of launch.

The buyers need to be aware, the COVID-19 has hampered Sony’s production capacity. However, turns out this is not the case. The promotional campaign that has taken a bigger hit rather than the production capacity.

Here is a complex environment in play here. First off, the PS 5 will cost the company a pretty penny to produce given the consoles “ambitious specs.” Subsequently, this makes the price high.

The scarcity of the components and the production cost has increased too, leaving them little choice but to increase the selling price.

Increased Production Cost Affecting Plans

For instance, PS 4 was priced at $400 on a brand new phase. Comparatively, PS 5 could increase its price of about $100-150 more. Naturally, these things affect the console demand, which is exactly what Sony expects to think.

If you remember, in 2006 when PS 3 was launched, they priced it at $600. This price made the product shares downfall. The gaming kings are worried about history repeating itself with PS 5, and hence producing fewer units in the initial phase.

The report also suggests that Sony is looking at producing 50-60lakh units by March 2021, the fiscal year ending. This is significantly lesser than the units they sold in the first two quarters after launching PS 4.

Sony’s new console may also be delayed, but they won’t let too much delay happen, Microsoft is going ahead as planned with Xbox Series X, and Sony won’t want to be late to the party.
