The world is currently dealing with a situation never seen before; the coronavirus pandemic. Currently our scientists are on the hunt for a vaccine or cure for the infection. But sadly, it’s going to be an arduous journey to find a cure. However, as responsible citizens, there is something that we can do. We can follow the social distancing guidelines and disinfect our environment. But how? We can do this via proper sanitation.
However, this can be a cumbersome process. But don’t worry because engineers at IIT Kanpur have come up with a UV device that will disinfect your room in just 15 minutes! Unbelievable right?
The UV device is named “Shudh,” and you can operate it with your smartphone. This device will disinfect your room within 15 minutes with the help of six UV lights of 15 watts each. You can even monitor the lights from a distance.
The UV disinfectant is developed by J. Ramkumar, Amandeep Singh and Shivam Sachan.
According to Singh “Amid the times of coronavirus, people are afraid to touch any object with the fear of being contracted. At the same time, liquid disinfection has yielded quite negative effects. In such a situation, the institute has developed a device to keep infection at bay.”
The UV disinfectant has six lights which can rotate 360-degrees. It can even run on bluetooth technology to disinfect your room within a few minutes. Furthermore, you can use this device to disinfect schools, meals, offices and hotels.
All you have to do is install an app on your smartphone to control the device’s speed, and location to disinfect the room of your desire. In fact, you can control all the six lights of the device individually as you please.
During its testing it was proved that the device can disinfect a 10 sq. ft. room in just 15 minutes!
