The NHRR (National Health Resource Repository) project is the country’s first ever healthcare establishment census to collect all kinds of data regarding from private to public health services.

Speaking at the function, J.P Nadda stated that the Health Profile is a very important tool as it has helped in designing various programmes. He cited the examples of initiatives like Free Drugs and Diagnostics and Mission Parivar Vikas that have benefited from the Health profiles. This new initiative is an add-on when it comes to India’s progress in reducing Total Fertility Rate (TFR), Maternal Mortality Rate(MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR).

This project aims to bring out and analyze the important factors affecting the national health and also find factors which are affecting the overall health and monitor them appropriately.

“I must put on record that the Government is committed to meet these challenges and strive towards achieving Universal Health Coverage and SDG goals,” said Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health and Family

Some key benefits of the NHRR Project are to create “a reliable, unified registry of Country’s health care resources showing the distribution pattern of health facilities and services between cities and rural areas”. Additionally, it shall ensure judicious health resource allocation and management.

“Data is an important source of navigation. It helps in understanding the goals, our strengths, and weaknesses and it is also an important means to strategize. Good compiled data enables the policymakers to make evidence-based policies and aids effective implementation of various schemes. NHRR should have an inbuilt process for updating the data so that the system is relevant for a long time,” said Nadda.
