Amazon has recently announced their partnership with Amitabh Bachchan as they would bring his voice to the digital assistant of Amazon and making him the first Indian celebrity voice of Alexa. The Bachchan Alexa skill would provide jokes, motivational quotes, weather, shayaris (Urdu poetry), weather, advice and many more.
It would be launched in 2021 as a paid experience but Amazon has stated that users can check how it sounds like by saying “Alexa, say hello to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan” in any Alexa-enabled device.
Amitabh Bachchan recently said in a mailed statement that technology has always given him an opportunity to adapt to a new form. He is excited to create the voice experience in partnership with Amazon and Alexa. He also said that they are building something to engage more properly with his audience and well-wishers.
Puneesh Kumar, who is the Alexa experiences leader of Amazon India stated that the voice of Amitabh Bachchan is memorable for any Indian who has grown up with Bollywood. The combination would deliver a perfect pitch to delight and simplify the lives of people. They are excited to see how users would respond when they use Alexa and hear his voice.
Amitabh Bachchan would be the first Indian celebrity to lend his voice to Alexa but he would also join Samuel L. Jackson who was the first Alexa celebrity voice in September 2019. The Jackson Alexa skill is available only with English (US). The announcement from Amazon has hinted that the Bachchan Alexa skill will be limited to India and the initial demo has showed that he would speak in Hindi.
However, there is no confirmation that whether Bachchan would speak in English or not. At present, Alexa is available at Amazon Echo devices, Fire TV Stick and other third-party phones, headphones, TVs, Bluetooth speakers and watches. It is also available through the Alexa app or Amazon app on Android.
