Apple is gearing up to host an event on March 25 where the company is expected to launch its subscription-based news content service which will follow the Netflix-like system. Nevertheless, the event will only be hosted to announce the new service and no gadgets will be announced from the company at the event.

According to a report by Buzzfeed, the event will only be hosted to announce Apple’s subscription service and the company won’t be revealing any gadgets like AirPods 2 or iPad Mini. Both the AirPods and iPad Mini have been in rumors and it is being speculated that the upgraded variant of both the devices may soon hit the market. However, it won’t be on March 25.

The event will be held at Apple Park campus in the Steve Jobs Theater on 25 March, and as per the report, the announcement will only be regarding news subscription service and not about the video-streaming service that Apple has been planning to launch this Spring.

According to the report, Apple will charge $10 as a subscription fee for the news service, $5 of which will go to participating publishers while the other half will be pocketed by the company.

A Reuters report suggests that publishers are resisting Apple’s decision to bag half the subscription amount. Notably, Apple charges a 30 percent transaction fee to software developers who sell apps through iTunes and its App Store.

There are also reports of the iPhone maker planning to launch a gaming subscription service. This planned service would work like any other subscription services do, allowing users to pay a regular subscription fee for a number for a number of titles.

It has been reported that the mobile gaming market is expected to grow rapidly in the upcoming years and Apple might be looking forward to tapping into the lucrative market of mobile gaming with its gaming subscription service.
