Reliance Industries is all set to launch their new service Jio GigaFiber which is an all-optical cable affair to provide wifi, TV and a landline connection. GigaFiber is said to offer high-speed internet that can be easily supported by modern devices by offering a dual-band Wi-Fi router against the norms of the conventional one. Dual-band routers go well with wireless networking equipment and will likely support the devices amidst any signal interference.

Exact details related to the cost of GigaFiber connection is still not too clear but if we go by the leaked reports, the plans will be starting from as low as Rs 600 for a connection with 50mbps speed. Currently, similar plans from Airtel come at a cost of around Rs 1,000. The connection with speeds of 100mbps may cost a Jio Gigafiber user approximately Rs 1,000. With this, Reliance Jio Gigafiber is planning on to undercut every of its competitor to take over the market by storm, a strategy which worked well for the company when it first launched its mobile service.

People may think that GigaFiber has gotten cheaper, but no that is not the case. As explained by Telecom Talk Info, “Users who will take part in the Preview Offer of Rs. 2,500/- will get a connection speed of up to 50mbps along with a single – band Wi – Fi router which supports 2.4GHz connections. On the other hand, if users go with the Preview Offer of Rs. 4,500/-, they will get a connection speed of 100mbps, along with a dual-band Wi-Fi router.”

However, Ji0 GigaFiber could still be the cheapest broadband service in India if the leaked prices are to be true. As of now, there’s no confirmation on the prices.

Jio GigaFiber is available only in the select regions but once launched full-scale, it will be the largest Greenfield fixed-line broadband rollout worldwide.
