The recent TCS 10k marathon on 18th may 2014 , left me in a depressing mood, lowering my self esteem and labeling me in a category of non performer. I was sporty from the initial days and very adventurous in nature. When I was informed about the Tata initiative, by a friend of mine, I was thrilled to be a part of the event. The excitement lasted only for few hours, till I realized that I cannot run for longer hours, nor I am aware of the do’s and don’ts for a marathon. I decided not to lose heart and try inquiring couple of people who were planning to be a part of the grand marathon.

We Indians always believe in sharing and caring, even though if our knowledge is at questionable state. We are always taught to share and to achieve the mental satisfaction when we spit out all we know. The general information was of no help to me. I started hunting for a training institute exclusively to train the individuals to run systematically with all pros and cons, but all in vain. I had to give up my dream of participating in this event, keeping my spirits high for the next marathon.

Proton Sports and Fitness was born with an aim to provide a professional structure to the aspirants. The services were available to the public from April 2014. It is a brain child of Dharmendra Kumar, Tim Tim Sharma and Ankush Sharma, who quit their respective careers, to start a training unit for those individuals who want to gear up with the running shoes and cover those extra miles which they have dreamt of.  The training costs Rs 5000 for 3 months which includes tempo, speed, circuit and endurance workouts.  A physiotherapist will be there for consultation and to monitor the trainees. They are a team of 10 trainers along with the ambassadors to ensure that an overall good experience and learning is imparted to the participants. The supervised training will take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays and the remaining days a training plan would be handed out to the participants. The following are the localities where training takes place:

  • Whitefield
  • Cubbon Park
  • Bangalore University
  • Kammanahalli
  • Koramangala

Healthy running is definitely a key to good health and good life.
