Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is the largest Cooperative Dairy Federation in South India. It is owned and managed by the milk producers of Karnataka State. The mission of the Federation is to help the rural sector prosper through the means of dairy productions. KMF has over 2.25 million milk producers in over 12334 Dairy Cooperative Societies at village level, functioning under 13 District Cooperative Milk Unions in Karnataka State. “Quality Excellence from Cow to Consumer”  is the motto of the Federation.  All the milk and the milk products are sold under the brand name Nandhini, which has become a name in the household today.

The Karnataka Milk Federation is planning to change the image of the brand, thereby trying to give it a contemporary image. The Federation is planning to launch ice cream parlours and coffee shops like milk bars in Bangalore within a month. The coffee shops will have all modern facilities as compared to the branded coffee outlets. The launch is expected to take place in June and KMF is planning to start with 6 outlets initially. These outlets will be exclusive KMF brand products.

The KMF is also planning to expand the milk booths. There are 150 milk booths across Bangalore and out of these, 120 are Mother Dairy brand booths. These milk booths are expected to sell only milk, yet other Nandhini milk based products are also sold including buttermilk and ice creams. The other products also earn them huge revenue. The demand is more than the supply of milk and milk based products. Thus, KMF is planning to launch 250 more milk booths in different localities of the city. The booths were earlier located in the parks or at the corner of the street, but KMF has invited people to come forward for the new set up.  They can either run the booth in their places as a franchisee or KMF will hire the place and run the booth.
