Sadar Patrappa Road or SP road, also called ‘spare parts’ road, is the electronics heart of Bengaluru city. If you are an electronics geek or like splitting open electronic devices, then this place will be equivalent to heaven to you. Here, you can avail of all kinds of electronics in wholesale and at very reasonable prices too.

Sadar Patrappa Road

Getting to SP Road is quite simple. You just have to get to the junction of the roads leading out from Corporation Circle and K. R. Market. This street is always buzzing with activity as customers try to get the most by striking bargains. Everything from branded items to pirated ones to used ones to local brands is available here. You can buy individual components of computers, laptops, mobile phones and other items at reasonable rates and get them assembled right in front of your eyes.

The Electronics hub

At SP road, there are innumerable electronics shops where you can find all kinds of hardware, electronic items, miscellaneous components and mobile accessories. Shops of all sizes and kinds line the road on either side with narrow lanes. The essence of this place lies in the fact that you will find anything related to electronics at cheap and reasonable rates. The items are already priced less than the market price. In addition to that, you also have the option of bargaining.

There are about 2000 shops in SP road, each trying to win the most number of customers and make good sales. This holds a big advantage to customers as they can enquire and check out items in at least a dozen shops before making a purchase. Irrespective of what you are looking for and how rare it is, you will surely find it here.

A glimpse of SP road

Another interesting feature about SP road is how certain communities dominate in certain genres. While Gujaratis specialize in hardware items, Muslims dominate in Iron and Steel and Rajasthanis in electronics. The shops have been passed down generations of families, with each successive generation picking up the tricks of the trade from the previous generation so as to run the stores.

One thing that you can also learn from this place is that practical knowledge can teach you much more than books ever can, at least in these fields. The shopkeepers and owners here have an immense amount of practical knowledge and probably would know more about electronics than professors in colleges. It is not an exaggeration to say that electronics runs in their blood.

A colourful display

At present, SP road is facing tough competition as numerous local electronics shops are seen springing up in many localities. Also, the easy availability of electronic goods online is another problem faced by this electronics hub. Nonetheless, no other place in all of Bengaluru can match the standards of this street and make an indelible mark in the world of electronics like SP road.
