Google Meet has now introduced noise cancellation for Android and iOS which can filter out disruptive sounds. Google Meet has also added attendance reports for schools and educators.

Google Meet can filter out background noise by joining background blur so that users can call from anywhere. Keyboard typing, doors opening and closing and construction outside the window is included under this. The “cloud-based AI” of Google works to isolate anything which is not the voice of the user.

In order to enable this, users need to tap at the “More” overflow menu, select “Settings” and then click at “Noise cancellation”. By default, it remains off and it is recommended by Google to disable this feature if non-speech is an important part of the user’s call like playing musical instruments.

Noise cancellation for Google Meet is available for customers of G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education. It is not available for G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, G Suite for Education and G Suite for Nonprofits. Regional restrictions are also there at South Africa, UAE and surrounding areas.

The feature is rolling out and will be available in the upcoming few days.

The organizers of G Suite Enterprise for Education can also get an attendance report after the end of the meeting. It is sent by an email and is available for Google Meet conversations between 5 to 250 participants. It includes the name, email, join or exit time and length. It will be available for more number of users over time.
