The new update of Truecaller will allow iPhone users to filter spam messages. Truecaller has also improved the caller ID and spam calls detection feature on iPhone that will make Truecaller more reliable for iOS users. A report by Truecaller has stated that India is fifth in the list of countries that are most affected by spam texts.
The update was announced officially on Twitter by Kunal Dua, who is Truecaller’s Director of Product (messaging). To access the feature, users need to navigate to Settings > Messages > Message Filtering (Unknown and Spam) and then select Truecaller under SMS filtering. However, Truecaller does not work smoothly on iOS like it does on Android because of lack of privacy and access settings. The new feature will completely solve this problem.
The new update of Truecaller will ensure a more better spam call detection on iOS. To use this feature, users have to go to Settings > Call Blocking & Identification and then select all the options of Truecaller. The phone numbers searched before the update will get automatically identified from next time and the update will also fix the bugs for spam call detection.
India is one of those countries that receives a large number of spam calls and messages. India is number fifth in the list of the countries most affected by spam calls in the year 2019. India dropped in this position due to spam calls increasing by 15% in just one year.
Among spammers in India, operators are in the top position with 67% spam calls. 16% spam calls are made from telemarketing companies, 10% from financial services and 6% from others. The reason behind this, as stated by Truecaller is the rise in mobile payments and the rising contribution of middle class people to banks, outsourced telemarketing services and fin-tech companies. A report has also stated that one out of three women face sexual harassment due to spam calls. Truecaller has globally helped users to block around 26 million calls in 2019.
