Last month, it was reported that WhatsApp was working on a new feature that would allow its users to search for stickers and emojis while they were doodling images.WhatsApp is working on bringing animated stickers support to iOS, Android, and even the Web.

Tipster WABetaInfo has shared screenshots and photos of the feature working on all three platforms but says that it is still under development. This means that end users will not be able to see it yet. He says that WhatsApp will introduce the feature in the future updates. Animated stickers are different from GIFs – they keep alive throughout, while GIFs stop playing after a few seconds.

It seems like, soon WhatsApp users would be able to share animated stickers on their Android smartphones, iPhones and WhatsApp for the web. The good news about this upcoming new feature is that unlike GIFs, which are played only for a few seconds, animated stickers will always be animated and continue amusing both the sender and the receiver. Additionally, the company is also likely to support third-party animated stickers, which would make conversation for WhatsApp users a bit more fun.

But animated stickers are not available on any of WhatsApp’s beta apps yet. So you might have to wait for some more time before this feature is officially made available to WhatsApp’s beta app users.

Notably, animated sticker is not the only feature that the company is working on lately. Earlier this week we also got to know that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that would restrict users from taking screenshots of chat conversations. This feature is enabled only when WhatsApp users enable authentication feature on their smartphones. The good news is that users will be able to respond to messages from notifications and answer calls on WhatsApp when the app is locked and the authentication feature has been enabled.
