The recent controversial Resolution in Delhi Assembly alleged seeking to withdrawal Bharat Ratna of Former President Rajiv Gandhi have jolted the possibilities of the alliance in Delhi. As per many reports, Aam Aadmi Party and Indian National Congress were in backroom talks to form an alliance for Lok Sabha 2019 Elections in Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana.

But the recent Rajiv Gandhi recent row has put aside all such possibilities for now at least.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC)  Chief Ajay Maken in a tweet said, that the controversial Resolution passed in the Delhi Assembly that seeks to withdrawal the Bharat Ratna awarded to Rajiv Gandhi might have jeopardized the possibilities of forming an alliance before Lok Sabha 2019.

In response to Maken’s tweet, AAP Senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh retorted that the leaders of the party which has zero seats in the Delhi assembly are still arrogant. He said that if this continues and the lesson is not learnt, then the Congress would again be forfeited in the elections.

The war on the social networking site erupted after the Delhi Assembly on December 21 passed a controversial resolution demanding that Bharat Ratna awarded to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi be withdrawn over the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. AAP resolution, moved by MLA Jarnail Singh and passed by a voice vote in the Delhi Assembly, termed the anti-Sikh riots as an act of genocide.

Though, Manish Sisodia later clarified that Resolution passed in Delhi Assembly does not have any reference to Gandhi.

In reply to Singh’s tweet, Maken on Wednesday posted a photograph of Somnath Bharti sitting behind Congress president Rahul Gandhi during Bharat Bandh protest, stating that Bharti endorsed the addition of remarks for taking back the Bharat Ratna award from Rajiv Gandhi. “So can AAP be trusted? Is this the alternate politics they promised,” Maken
asked.

Recently, former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit had said Delhi party workers would honor the decision of alliance with the AAP if the high command decides so, but Maken is not in favor of an alliance with the AAP in Delhi. Former Delhi CM also said that she is also ready to take responsibility of Delhi Pradesh Chief if the party would give it to her.

According to sources, the top leadership of two parties is keen to have an alliance
for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. But Delhi State Congress don’t want as they feared that it will reduce the party in the state vis-a-vis assembly polls.
