Gearing up for the last phase of polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has planned several roadshows for AAP National Chief Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal is slated to hold address at least 5 roadshows in Punjab where polls are due for May 19, the last phase of national elections.

Arvind Kejriwal’s back-to-back roadshows are seen as an attempt to revive the party in the state where the party is facing defections.

As per schedule, Kejriwal will two roadshows on May 13 and May 14 in Sangrur – a seat from where Bhagwant Mann is seeking his second term. AAP Candidate Bhagwant Mann in a run-up to the national elections will take on Congress‘ Kewal Singh Dhillon, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) nominee Parminder Singh Dhindsa. While the alliance of 7 parties Punjab Democratic alliance has named Jasraj Singh Longia alias Jassi Jasraj.

While AAP Chief is slated to hold a roadshow on May 15 in Bathinda. AAP has named Baljinder Kaur who is pitched against SAD’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Amrinder Singh Raja Warring of Congress.

Kejriwal on May 16 will hold a roadshow in Faridkot to seek votes for sitting MP Sadhu Singh. Singh is up against Gulzar Singh Ranike of SAD and Mohd Sadiq of Congress. Faridkot MP Sadhu Singh speaking to media said that Arvind Kejriwal’s roadshow will definitely lift the AAP in the state and would create an impact on voters.

While Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 17 will hold a roadshow in Patiala. In Patiala Lok Sabha seat, AAP has named Neena Mittal against Surjit Singh Rakhra of SAD and Preneet Kaur of Congress.

Delhi Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and Delhi leadership would accompany AAP convener in the state.

AAP’s state campaign committee chief and Lawmaker Aman Arora said: “Party’s national leadership was busy in national capital polls. He added that as the polling in the national capital is over Kejriwal and other leaders will start campaigning for the party candidates in Punjab. Kejriwal is the face of AAP and his campaigning will surely up the tempo.”

AAP in the state will take on Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) who has already announced its poll alliance with Bhartiya Janta Party

General Elections is in the last leg and last phase polling will be held on May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.

Punjab for its 13 Parliamentary seats will poll in a single phase on May 19 four days ahead of counting.

In 2014 General Elections, BJP-SAD combine won 6 Lok Sabha Seats with BJP emerged victorious on 2 seats while SAD on 4. Congress who suffered major setback across the nation managed to win 3 Lok Sabha Seats in Punjab while debutant Aam Aadmi Party bagged 4 Lok Sabha Seats.

Aam Aadmi Party had in 2014 General Elections won the Lok Sabha Seats of Sangrur, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala.
