Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Amit Shah is slated to hold a roadshow in Patna on Saturday to seek votes for party candidates and Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Ram Kripal Yadav. Patna Sahib and Patliputra Lok Sabha Seat fell under Patna District of the state.

Speaking about the programme of BJP Chief, party spokesperson Nikhil Anand said Amit Shah will seek votes for Ravi Shankar Prasad in Patna Sahib.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is also slated to visit the state next week.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief’s May 11 roadshow assumes significance as two of the party’s big names are contesting from Pataliputra and Patna Sahib constituencies in Patna.

In Patna Sahib Lok Sabha Seat, BJP has fielded Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad against Shatrughan Sinha of Congress. In 2014 National elections, contesting on BJP Ticket amidst heavy ‘Modi’ wave, Shatrughan Sinha bagged the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha Seat with a margin over 2.5 lakh votes by defeating Congress Candidate Kunal Singh. While In the 2009 national elections, Sinha defeated RJD‘s Vijay Kumar with a margin of over 1.5 Lakh votes.

However, in a run-up to the national elections 2019, Shatrughan Sinha who has been lately become a strong critic of Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was replaced by BJP with Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

While for Patliputra Lok Sabha Seat, The BJP has fielded another Union Minister, Ram Kirpal Yadav. He is pitched against the daughter of RJD Chief Lalu Yadav, Misa Bharti. She had contested unsuccessfully last time.

General Elections 2019 is being held across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. 51 seats under Phase-V voted on May 6. Counting of the votes will be held on May 23. Voting of the remaining 118 constituencies will be held in two phases slated on May 12 and May 19.
