Anti-Corruption Crusader Anna Hazare‘s fast on Saturday enters the fourth day with his doctor stating that the 81-year-old’s blood pressure and blood sugar levels had “significantly” increased. His Doctor Dr Dhananjay Pote told PTI, “There has been a significant increase in blood pressure and blood sugar when I examined Hazare in the morning on Friday.”

Local residents, who have come out in large numbers in support, accused the state and Central governments of ignoring his demands. Several of them also protested Friday in front of the office of Ram Shinde, the district’s guardian minister, a close aide of Hazare said.

Hazare who has started his Indefinite Hunger Strike in Ralegaon Siddhi on January 30 Wednesday is demanding the formation of Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in the states. He is also demanding the Implementation of Swaminathan Committee Recommendations.

Hazare before starting his agitation asserted that ‘It has been almost 5 years but Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Centre government is making excuses. He added, ‘I will be protesting for the betterment of the nation’ .

He had earlier written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis alleging that Apart from giving assurances for the Implementation of Lokpal and Lokayukta Law of 2014, the State Government had done nothing concrete to Implement it.

He has also written to Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Jitendra Singh accusing the government of delaying the appointment in the states and continuously making accuses.

Social Activist, Anna Hazare, 81, had earlier said that if the Lokpal would have been appointed, then cases like Rafale would not have occurred. “It is a revolutionary bill under which every officer will be investigated if citizens complaint against them,” he said.

On January 4, The Supreme Court had expressed disappointment over the slow pace of the functioning of the Search panel. The Top Court had directed the Centre to ‘put on record’ steps taken to appoint Lokpal by January 17
