Antony Dominic, who till date held the office as the acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, was on Friday sworn in as the Chief Justice of Kerala.

Justice Dominic took the oath administered by Kerala Governor P. Sadasivam in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The event at Raj Bhavan had Chief Secretary Paul Antony, senior High Court judges, judicial officers, cabinet ministers, political leaders and police officers in presence. The Chief Secretary read out the Presidential order appointing Justice Dominic as the chief justice.

Life

Justice Dominic hails from Ponkunnam near Kanjirapally in Kottayam district. In the past 17 years, no one from his town has held this post. It was Justice K.K Usha who occupied the chair 17 years ago. This evidently makes him the second to do so.

Education

Before entering the field he studied law at SDM Law College, Mangalore. Post studies he started legal practice as a lawyer in the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Kanjirapally in 1981. In 1986 he shifted to the Kerala High Court and then promoted as the permanent judge.

Family

Justice Dominic is a member of the Karikattukunnel House, Ponkunnam. His wife Riny is an educationist. They have two children — son Dominic Antony is a lawyer and daughter Maria Antony is pursuing her college education.
