Army Chief Bipin Rawat is set to head to Srinagar to review the security situation in the area today. This is his first such visit after the Union government had scrapped Article 370.

It is expected that the Army Chief will assess the on-ground security measures and look after the situational preparedness of the Army forces in the valley. Many prominent faces associated with national security framework had earlier visited the erstwhile state to montoir the returning of normalcy. Previously, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval had also visited the former state for assessing the security measures himself.

After the decision of abrogation of Article 370, it was feared that the Jammu and Kashmir region will see incidents of violence and protests but it has been reported by the local authorities that none of it happened. There were minor issues of security concerns but nothing of large scale.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik had earlier apprised the media that there had been no civilian casualties following the repeal of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Even the External Affairs Ministry has confirmed the fact that peace is returning to the valley.

Local administration of Jammu and Kashmir has already confirmed that the normalcy is returning to the region. Owing to the gradual phasing of restrictions also, it has also been reported that elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in the year 2021.
