In a move to maintain uniform opportunities for everyone, the Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to do away with the different retirement age for state government employees. This issue was discussed in the Arunachal assembly for a couple of times before.

According to the statement, majority of government employees had their retirement age as 58 years, however, there were some departments where the employees had the benefit of working regularly till the age of 60. The government has now extended this benefit to all the employees under state government. The decision will come into effect from January 1st next year.

According to the official statement issued by the government, it is keen on the welfare of their citizens and this decision has been taken to ensure greater credibility and use of the state government employees. Also, this move will ensure similar benefits to all the employees under the state government, despite of their department, rank or location. This could have been implemented with immediate effect, however, the government is aware of the possible consequences and it has decided to address the possible issues before implementing it officially.
