ayodhyaAyodhya on alert for VHP and Shiv Sena events to thrust for Ram Mandir construction . Around 1 lakh people are expected to attend

Ahead of Vishwa Hindu Parishad‘s  Dharam Sabha on Sunday to thrust for Ram Mandir construction and a 2-day visit by Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, there is heavy security in the Ayodhya district of UP.

Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed with hundreds of policemen been deployed at the disputed Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Majid site. According to a senior official, “Devotees are being allowed darshan at the makeshift temple there in small batches.”

Dreading the violation of law and order during the VHP’s Dharam Sabha which will be held at Bade Bhakt Mahal ground, UP Police has sounded a statewide alert. With a probable congregation of more than 1 lakh people, this is expected to be the largest gathering in the town since December 6, 1992, when thousands of Kar Sevaks had uprooted barricades and demolished the 16th century Babri Masjid.

Shiv Sena will observe a massive gathering at Lakshman Quila at 2.30pm where Thackeray will address the rally. On Sunday, Thackeray will visit the makeshift Ram Mandir at 9 am. Shiv Sena had booked two trains to ferry around 5000 people to Ayodhya ahead of their leader’s visit.

The Shiv Sena has demanded an ordinance for the construction of a Ram Mandir and claims it has the support of more than 400 MPs cutting across party lines.
