Hearing the Ayodhya land dispute case for the 40th day, Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi reserved its decision on a batch of petitions. Other than CJI, the bench comprises Justice SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and Abdul Nazeer.

However, the apex court has announced that the decision on the matter will be finalized between November 4 to November 17. Previously, the court had said that all the submissions in the case will be completed by 18 October. CJI in his order said, “Hearing concluded. Judgment reserved. Parties to give written submissions on the moulding of relief in three days.”

Speaking on the matter, Varun Sinha, Hindu Mahasabha’s lawyer said that the final decision will come in 23 days.

The court is hearing the case on a daily basis from 6th august after the mediation panel headed by Judge FM Ibrahim Kalifullah failed to find an amicable solution and reach any conclusion. However, yesterday the court said that it is also likely to discuss the mediation panel report from today behind closed doors. The mediation panel also had mediator Sriram Panchu and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar as its member.

Hearing the court’s decision to consider the option of the mediation panel, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar expressed happiness.

PREVIOUS JUDGEMENT IN AYODHYA VERDICT-

Allahabad High court while hearing the case on September 30, 2010, had divided the 2.77-acre in Ayodhya among the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla equally.

The Supreme court is hearing the petition filed against the decision of Allahabad high court.
