In an interesting development ahead of the Jharkhand elections, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) supremo, Babulal Marandi announced his decision to break away from pre-Lok Sabha poll opposition alliance.

The decision was announced by the party chief on Sunday. Now the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha will go solo in the forthcoming Jharkhand assembly elections. The party has also decided to contest all of the 81 seats in the state.

Speaking to the reporters of News18, Babulal Marandi said, “The JVM (P) will not ally with any party. We will contest all the 81 seats on our own. After the Lok Sabha elections, I tried to establish talks with the opposition parties, but they did not show any interest. Now there is no time for dialogue for any alliance“.

Jharkhand Vikas Morcha was earlier in the support of opposition grand alliance before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The opposition grand alliance also has Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal as its participants.

For the upcoming assembly elections in the state, the party has convened a meeting of all its leaders on November 5 and 6. The meeting will see the discussion of the party’s preparation and the selection of candidates.

Jharkhand Elections-

The date of Jharkhand assembly elections was announced by the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora. The state will go to polls for 81 assembly seats. Polls will be conducted in five phases- from November 30 to December 20.

Counting of votes will take place on 23rd December. A total of 2.26 crore voters base exists in the state that includes 1.18 crore male and 1.08 crore female.
