Announcing plans for the party’s 135th foundation day, Maharashtra Cabinet minister and Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat said that a flag march will be organized in Mumbai on December 28.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, the leader said that the march rally would be organized in the form of a rally to “Save the Constitution”. As quoted by ANI, he said, “We will hold a flag march on December 28, on the occasion of Congress‘ foundation day. We (Congress) wanted to take everyone together and it is a part of the Constitution but it is not being followed today. Therefore, it will be a rally to save the Constitution too.”

Previously, the party had also announced to hold a flag march on a similar day to highlight anti-people policies of Narendra Modi government

Informing further about the plans of Maharashtra cabinet expansion, BalasahebThorat said that the dates would be announced soon by the incumbent Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He said, “The Cabinet expansion will happen soon in Maharashtra. The Chief Minister will announce the date.” The leader, however, did not comment on the number of ministerial berths that his party can get in the expansion.

Foundation of Congress party-

The Indian National Congress was founded in 1885 by Britsh official AO Hume. The 1st session that took place in Bombay was presided by WC Banerjee. The party was formed to provide political leaders, people, and journalists to share the common aspirations of a united India. Around 72 journalists took part in the 1st foundation day of the party.

Lord Dufferin was the existing Viceroy when the congress party took birth.
