West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Monday arrived in the national capital to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah following a post-poll clash between TMCBJP in West Bengal.

However, West Bengal Governor dismissed the speculations about his meeting especially in the wake of the post-poll clashes. Talking to reporters while he was leaving for Delhi, Keshari Nath Tripathi said, ‘I have sought time from Prime Minister almost six days ago, He has given time on June 10. The violence incidents occurred on June 8’.

He added that he will inform PM Modi about the incidents but the meeting is not specifically for this. ‘I had asked to meet the PM either on June 9-10 or June 14-15 as I couldn’t wish him personally on the swearing-in day, it’s a courtesy visit’, he said as quoted by ANI.

Calling the meeting as just courtesy visit, Governor said he has not yet spoken to Home Minister over the issue and will give details about incidents.

The meeting of West Bengal Governor with Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes a day after Union Home Ministry issued an advisory to Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal Government. MHA expressed concern over the death of people in post-poll violence between BJP and TMC.

MHA in the advisory asked the West Bengal Government to take action and ensure the law and order in the State. It further asks to take action against officials found delinquent in the discharge of their duty.”

Responding to MHA Advisory, West Bengal Government in response wrote a letter and stated that the law and order situation in the state is ‘Under Control’.

The clash between two political groupings occurred after the removal of BJP’s flag in
Sandeshkhali Assembly constituency of North 24 Parganas on Saturday.

BJP leader Mukul Roy has alleged that four BJP workers were shot dead by the members of TMC. While TMC has said that its party workers are also killed in the clash between the two factions.
