One of three election rallies of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Kolkata which was slated for Wednesday was called cancelled. It comes after the stage from where he was slated to address was vandalised on Tuesday.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Leader Rahul Sinha speaking about the development said, ‘When the stage was being set up yesterday, labourers working on it were beaten up & scared away; the stage was vandalised. The public meeting was scheduled for 2 pm today, the stage couldn’t be repaired. So we had to cancel it’.

He was slated to address a rally in BT Road in Phoolbagan of Kolkata. Adityanath other two rallies are scheduled for in North 24 Parganas district’s Habra and south Kolkata’s Behala.

Bharatiya Janata Party sources claimed that other two rallies of Habra and Behala will be held as per schedule.

In Habra assembly segment that falls under Barasat Lok Sabha constituency, UP CM Yogi Adityanath will seek votes for Dr Mrinal Kanti Debnath who is up against TMC sitting MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.

While in Behala assembly segment that falls under Kolkata South Lok Sabha Constituency, BJP star campaigner will seek votes for Chandra Kumar Bose who is taking on TMC’s Mala Roy. The seat is currently held by Trinamool Congress.

Both TMC and BJP ever since the start of national polls is in loggerheads. Amit Shah‘s roadshow in Kolkata on Tuesday was attacked. Reportedly, massive unrest and violent conflicts broke out between TMC and BJP workers at College Street on Tuesday evening during the roadshow of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah in Kolkata.

BJP in a run-up to the polls is leaving no stone unturned to make a big dent in Mamata’s Bastion and eyeing a lion share from 42 Lok Sabha Seats.

Just like Amit Shah’s road initial 6 phases of elections, also saw violence in the state with reports of clashes between TMC and BJP from various places.

General Elections 2019 is being held across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. Counting of the votes will be held on May 23. Voting on the remaining 59 constituencies will be held in last and seventh phase of polling slated for May 19.

Polling in West Bengal’s 42 Lok Sabha Seat is being spread on all seven phases. 9 Lok Sabha seats of the state will go to polls in the last phase of the election slated for May 19.
