A Delegation of Bhartiya Janta Party Uttar Pradesh Leaders met Election Commissioner Sunil Arora in Lucknow on Wednesday ahead of Lok Sabha Polls 2019. BJP State Leader JPS Rathore said after meeting the Chief Election Commissioner, ‘The BJP Delegation urged the Chief Election Commissioner to increase the voting duration by an hour since VVPAT machines (linked to ballot units) consume more time in voting’.

Apart from JPS Rathore, BJP Leaders Anoop Gupta, Akhilesh Awasthi and Nikhil Mathur was also a part of the delegation that met the CEC.

The BJP Delegation also demanded that the tracking IDs of the Postal Ballot should be generated within 24 hours of issuance of the notification, so that votes of jawans of the Army, para-military and officials posted in remote areas can be registered well before the counting of votes, Rathore said.

The Delegation Law also demanded that postal ballot is converted into e-ballot for Army and para-military jawans and officials posted in remote areas, Rathore told PTI. He said the officials took their demands seriously.

The Bhartiya Janta Party also asserted that Poll panel give permission with ease for programmes conducted by the party 15-20 days before the filing of nominations, and the expenses should be clubbed with the expenses of the party.

With just weeks left for Lok Sabha Polls, a team of Election Commission led by CEC Sunil Arora visited Lucknow on Wednesday. CEC was accompanied by two Election Commissioners Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra. A team of Election Commission met a delegation of political parties followed by a meeting with Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), Principal Secretary (Home) and Principal Secretary (Excise).

A Team of Election Commission today is expected to hold a meeting with district magistrates, returning officers of 80 Lok Sabha constituencies, Superintendents of Police (SPs)/ Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs) of all 75 districts along with divisional commissioners and Deputy Inspector General (DIGs)/ Inspector General of Police (IGs).
