The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday announced their decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry together that in combine have 40 Lok Sabha Seats. The BJP will contest five seats in alliance with the AIADMK, PMK and other parties.

As per the Alliance, BJP will back the ruling AIADMK in the 21 Assembly Seat by-polls. The alliance is for all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry. The parties made the announcement at the end of talks between the leaders of both parties in Chennai on Tuesday afternoon.

Union Minister and BJP State In-Charge Piyush Goyal, Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan and others held alliance talks with AIADMK joint coordinator and chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and party coordinator and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam.

Piyush Goyal in a joint Presser said,’Piyush Goyal, BJP: We will support AIADMK in the by-elections on 21 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu. We have agreed to contest elections in the leadership of O Panneerselvam & Edappadi K Palaniswami in state & in the leadership of Modi Ji in the center’

Goyal added, “I am delighted that AIADMK and the BJP have concluded a fruitful discussion and agreed to contest elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with alliance partners.”

Tamil Nadu Deputy CM O Panneerselvam on the occasion said AIADMK and BJP will have an alliance for Lok Sabha elections which will be a mega and winning alliance.

After firming up an alliance with the ruling AIADMK for the Lok Sabha polls, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal Tuesday met with DMDK founder-president Vijayakanth at his residence.

Goyal, also the BJP in-charge for Tamil Nadu, said the visit was to inquire about the actor-turn-politician’s health. “Everything in life is not about alliances and politics”, Goyal said.

Earlier in the day, ruling AIADMK in the state announced an alliance with Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019. According to the Poll Pact, PMK will field its candidates on 7 Lok Sabha Seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

Announcing the Poll Tie-up in the presence of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said it has also been decided that the PMK will be allocated a Rajya Sabha seat. As per the deal, PMK will also back ruling AIADMK in the by-elections slated for 21 Assembly Seats.

It is said to be the alliance of AIADMK, PMKa and Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP) will also include the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) in the larger picture in a run-up to the Lok Sabha Polls 2019

The Alliance with AIADMK was sealed after Piyush Goyal had in last week held key meetings with AIADMK Leaders in Chennai.
