In a shocking revelation adding to the claims made by BSF’s Tej Bahadur Yadav, the residents near BSF’s camp in Srinagar have said that the officers sell Fuel and Food for half the market price.
According to a report first published by Times of India, the fuel, petrol and diesel is sold to the shopkeepers near the Humhama BSF Headquarters. The food items like Dal, vegetables and grains are also sold to civilians below the market rate. A jawan on the assurance of anonymity stated that they are denied even the daily-use items by the officers who sell the stock to agents and enjoy huge commission.
The alleged corruption is not limited just to the food items. A local furniture vendor told that the officers place order for furniture which is meant to be used by the forces and they enjoy huge commission. Sometimes, the commission is even bigger than the amount which the furniture vendor earns. He further stated that there is no tender system in BSF and purchases of stuffs like furniture is done directly by the officer in charge of that particular headquarter and that is the reason officers quote the desired figure to higher authorities.
A local contractor also stated that the fuel is supplied in huge quantities at half the market price and also, the food items can be bought from the officers at a price lesser than the market rate.
BSF has already ordered a probe in the allegations made by Tej Bahadur Yadav and the report is expected today.
