Amid reports about CBI might question the Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in connection with the Illegal Mining Scam, the Bahujan Samaj Party on Monday backed Samajwadi Party Leader Akhilesh Yadav.

In a Joint Press Conference on Monday Ramgopal Yadav of SP and Satish Mishra of BSP slammed the BJP led government for misusing the CBI. SC Mishra, BSP as quoted by ANI said, “In land-mafia case FIR is against the officer, that officer violated law made by govt in allotment process, how does that make then CM Akhilesh Yadav Ji responsible for it? Their (BJP) partners are leaving them, their new alliance is with CBI”.

While effectively number 2 in Samajwadi Party, Ramgopal Yadav said, “if a UP min [referring to Siddharth Nath Singh] organizes a PC in Delhi & asks for a CBI probe against Akhilesh, what conclusion can you draw from it? It’ll backfire on them & BJP won’t even get to put their feet in UP, PM will have to leave Varanasi & fight elections from elsewhere.”

The leader further claimed that the investigation agency is being “misused”; “Constitutional institutes are being misused, CBI has been divided into two parts” he added. BSP, SP finalize alliance terms without Congress for 2019 general elections; claim sources

According to a BSP insider, Party supremo Mayawati on Sunday called up Akhilesh Yadav and told him that these raids by BJP are nothing new and are their old political tactic which people now understand. We have to fight against this strongly and make their conspiracies unsuccessful, said Party functionary.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Sidhharth Nath Singh on Sunday briefed Media in New Delhi. Health Minister said, “Akhilesh ji you cannot loot, & beat your chest over it. You’ve looted the people & law is taking its course. In 2016 Allahabad HC took cognizance of the matter & gave it to CBI. CBI does not work keeping in mind timing of elections or gathbandhans”.

Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s name came under scanner following to dozen of raids in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday conducted raids at a dozen of locations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh – Kanpur, Lucknow, Hamirpur, Noida in connection with the Uttar Pradesh illegal mining scam.

CBI sources claimed that all those who were Ministers during the scam will be investigated. It should be noted that Samajwadi Party Chief and Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav held the Mining Department from the year 2012 to 2013. While Yadav has served as the Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017.
