The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday refused to grant anticipatory bail to BJP Leader Mukul Roy in connection with the murder case of TMC MLA Satyajit Biswa. The Calcutta High Court, while imposing a slew of restrictions on Mukul Roy, however, put stay over his arrest till March 7.

The court directed Mukul Roy to cooperate with the investigating agencies and report to the Police Station of his residence once a week. He is also barred from entering Nadia district.

BJP Leader Mukul Roy who was earlier associated with TMC filed an anticipatory bail plea in Calcutta High Court division bench yesterday in connection with the murder case.

The Calcutta High Court Divisional Bench while considering the gravity of the crime refused to grant bail however provide interim relieve to him with a slew of restrictions.

Mukul Roy was among four people who were named responsible for the allegedly killing TMC MLA Biswas. Biswa, who was elected from Krishnaganj in Nadia District was shot dead by an unidentified person at Phulbari in Jalpaiguri recently. The incident happened
when Biswas was attending Saraswati Puja celebrations at Phulbari.

Reportedly, Biswa was shot multiple times from a close range when he was coming down the stage after attending the event.

However, BJP leader Mukul Roy once a close aide of Mamata Banerjee had made allegations on Chief Minister Banerjee and said charges are framed against me on the directions of the TMC Supreme and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Two accused – Kartik Mondal and Sujit Mondal – were arrested a day after the killing and remanded to 14-days police custody.

Former TMC Rajya Sabha MP, Roy joined Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in November 2017 after being suspended from TMC for involving in anti-party activities.
