Criticising the recent CBI raids conducted on the premises of former Railway Minister and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, RJD leaders and few other party leaders demonstrated protest against it.

AICC chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala dubbed the CBI and ED as “captive puppets” of the BJP-led NDA government and accused them of playing dirty politics by taking revenge on the opposition leaders. Questioning the CBI raids, Surjewala asked that why did it take 13 years for the CBI to register a case against Lalu and why did it not cancel the contract that time, had they fished some irregularities in the passing of tenders. He also asked the CBI whether the Railways has filed any criminal complaint with the CBI against Lalu?

“The BJP and the CBI need to answer certain fundamental questions. The matter, as per CBI, dates back to the year 2004 while FIR is lodged in the year 2017, then why this inordinate delay and particular silence maintained by BJP for last 3 years?” he asked.

Attacking the BJP he said that the party keeps boasting about zero tolerance on corruption, then why there has been no investigation regarding the Sahara/Birla diaries, Rs 20,000 crore GSPC scam, Vyapam scam which involved Shivraj Singh Chouhan CM of Madhya Pradesh, Lalit Modi and mining case, involving Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, Rs 2,00,000 crore Dal scam, Rs 45,000 crore spectrum scam and Rs 36,000 crore PDS scam involving Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh.

Randeep also said that till the accused is not proven guilty BJP or any other party has no right call, anyone, a criminal.
