The case of missing Najeeb Ahmed had made a lot of headlines. Especially, because he was a student in JNU, the centre of student politics in India. There were statements, protests and allegations on either side. However, the same died a slow death and there was no conclusion.
The police kept on investigating, students got busy with their schedules and politicians did not see any long term benefit in the case. However, after over a year into the case, with CBI being the investigator, there is another update. In its status filing today, CBI told the court that it has not reached to any substantial conclusion into the case and needs more time to investigate the case. Along with that, CBI gave a list of the activities and steps it has taken in order to trace Najeeb Ahmed, however, none of them reached a fruitful conclusion.
The court has given some more time to CBI and has asked it to investigate the matter and try to trace the missing student.
