Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday laid the foundation stone for prestigious Andhra Pradesh secretariat towers in Amaravati. The permanent Secretariat will comprise five blocks, which will be 225 meters and spread across 41 acres (69.8 lakh sqft), and will be built at a cost of ₹4,890 crore.

The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) and the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) will be overseeing the work.

The Visibly happy Chief Minister Naidu called it as Historic Moment and said “The world is looking at our capital. It will be crown for the world in the coming future.”

He said the new permanent secretariat would come up in a total area of 41 acres having 145 Departments. This would enable efficiency in workflow and interaction among different departments. “With a height of over 225 meters, four towers will have 40 floors while one tower will have 50 floors. 145 departments would function from here that will make the work efficient” said N Chandrababu Naidu.

Andhra Pradesh Government finalized the tower design in its Capital Amaravati last year in December. The Chief Minister said that for the first time in India, the structure is designed on the unique structural system called ‘diagrid’ without the conventional columns to provide column-free interior space.

He said that the government and its people have worked together for the construction of the state’s capital. “To say that for any program to materialize, it requires the cooperation of the people and the cooperation and governments’ foresight. The construction of the capital itself is an example”. Naidu said.

Apart from laying down the foundation for Andhra Pradesh Secretariat tower, Chief Minister Naidu also laid the foundation stone for the overdue steel plant project in Kambaladinne in Kadapa district. The project has an estimated cost of ₹20,000 crore and will be constructed on 3000 acres land.
