New Delhi, April 30 Former Congress MLA from Delhi’s Ghonda Assembly constituency Bhisham Sharma on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sharma joined the saffron party in the presence of party’s Delhi unit President Manoj Tiwari and national Vice President Shyam Jaju.

The Congress had on April 25 expelled Bhisham Sharma from the party for six years for engaging in “anti-party activities”.

The Ghonda Assembly segment, which Sharma represented earlier, falls under the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency – a constituency from where BJP Nominee Manoj Tiwari is seeking his second term.

Manoj Tiwari in a run-up to the national elections is taking on DPCC Chief and Former Delhi CM Sheila Dixit. AAP has named Dilip Pandey for Parliamentary Seat.

General Elections 2019 has already started and would spread in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. All 7 Lok Sabha Seats will go to polls on May 12.

Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014 national elections bagged all seven seats in the national capital. The fight in the national capital is between Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Aam Aadmi Party. While for the first time, BSP has named its candidates on all seven seats of the national capital.
