New Delhi: Ahead of the COVID-19 vaccination in India, the country has reported 4 new cases tested positive for the new strain of coronavirus. This has taken the total number of new strains of coronavirus cases to 29, as per Union Health and Welfare Ministry.

Out of these 29 cases, 10 are from the national capital Delhi. The new cases include 10 from New Delhi, one from Kalyani in West Bengal, five from Pune, three from Hyderabad, and 10 from Bengaluru.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Friday holds a review meeting with the Delhi government for the preparation of the dry run of the COVID19 vaccination drive on January 2, via video conferencing.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Thursday permits the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, making the way for global nations to quickly approve its import and distribution.

Meanwhile, India registered 20,036 fresh cases of coronavirus which pushed the total tally to 1,02,86,710 in the nation. The active cases now stand at 2,54,254. With 23,181 new recoveries, as far as 98,83,461 patients recovered, and with 256 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 1,48,994.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 10,62,420 samples were tested yesterday. As per Union Health and Welfare Ministry, the infection (Active) rate is 2.47 percent, the recovery rate has reached 96.08 percent and the death rate is 1.45 percent.
