New Delhi: India has registered 24,712 fresh cases of coronavirus in the 24 hours, as per the Union Health and Welfare Ministry data.

Indian coronavirus infections tally now stand at 1.01 crore and 2.83 lakh are currently active cases. With 312 new deaths reported on Wednesday now the toll has risen 1.46 lakh. The total number of tests done during the previous day 10,39,645.

Kerala, among the quickest developing states in India, is as yet detailing more than 6,000 cases per day. After Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Karnataka governments have forced night curfews. While the Rajasthan government has forced a night curfew till December 31 in all urban areas having a populace of more than one lakh, the night curfew in time in Karnataka will be implemented from this evening till January 2.

Meanwhile, five COVID-19 positive people who landed from the UK had gone untraceable after landing at the Delhi airport. As per Indian Express, three of them were found by Tuesday night and admitted to Lok Nayak hospital in Delhi, while one managed to reach Ludhiana while another reached Andhra Pradesh before they were brought back on Wednesday.

South Africa’s health department said last week that a new genetic mutation of the virus had been detected and may be liable for a new flood in contaminations there.
