New Delhi: India reported 22,272 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 1,01,69,118. With 251 new deaths, the death toll has risen to 1,47,343.

Presently, there are 2,81,667 active cases, while 97,40,108 patients have been discharged so far. A total of 22,274 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health and Welfare Ministry data.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 16,71,59,28 samples have been tested. The national recovery rate is 95.78 percent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.45 percent.

Meanwhile, France has confirmed the first case of a new strain of coronavirus variant that was detected in the United Kingdom.

In India, there are few tested positive for coronavirus amid the scare of a new strain of coronavirus after landing from the UK.

On Friday, eight people tested positive at the Delhi airport and nine more people who returned to Telangana in the last 2 weeks have tested positive, taking the total number of UK returnees infected with the virus to 16.
