New Delhi: India reports 15,968 fresh cases of coronavirus which pushed the total tally to 1,04,95,147 in the nation. The active cases now stand at 2,14,507. With 17,817 new recoveries, as far as 1,01,29,111 patients recovered, and with 202 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 1,01,29,111, as per Union Health Ministry.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of samples tested up to 11 January is 18,34,89,114 including 8,36,227 samples tested yesterday.

As per Union Health and Welfare Ministry, the infection (Active) rate is 2.04 percent, the recovery rate has reached 96.51 percent and the death rate is 1.44 percent.

Meanwhile, ahead of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout on January 16, Goa Airport Director Gagan Malik had informed that the first consignment of the ‘Covishield’ vaccine developed by the Serum Institute of India arrived in Goa at 6:22 AM on Tuesday. The two boxes were handed over to the State Health Department.

Also, The first consignment of Covaxin by Bharat Biotech, being brought from Hyderabad to Delhi on an Air India flight and arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The Centre government has said that the vaccine drive will start from January 16 and frontline workers against the coronavirus diseases will be vaccinated in the first phase.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday virtually chaired a high-level meeting with Chief Ministers and Administrators of all States and Union Territories to review the status and preparedness for COVID-19 vaccination.
