New Delhi: The Union government has chosen eight districts in four states to conduct a two-day run of COVID-19 vaccination which begins on Monday, December 28 to 29.

The states which are going to witness the two-day dry run are Punjab, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat.

Hindustan Times (HT) quoted a senior official of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, “The dry run is being conducted to mobilize all elements involved in the Covid-19 vaccination drive that is planned for next year to test the vaccine delivery machinery. All elements except for the vaccine will be mobilized.”

The HT reported, “Two districts each from all four states have been identified to conduct this dry run simultaneously on these two days,” confirmed another official in the health ministry, who did not want to be named either.

The dry run will incorporate testing for cold stockpiling and transportation arrangement plans for the immunization, overseeing swarms at meeting locales with legitimate physical distancing, and characterizing the role of vaccinators and other staff on vaccine-related duty.

The states will focus on checking how conceivable adverse events following immunization will be managed as every meeting site will have an assigned medical services office for the individuals who feel uneasy post-immunization.
