New Delhi: Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Saturday said that not just in Delhi, the COVID-19 vaccine will be provided for free across the nation. He was being asked if the COVID-19 vaccine will be provided free of cost.

Union Health Minister took to Twitter and wrote, “In the 1st phase of #COVID19 vaccination, free vaccine shall be provided across the nation to most prioritized beneficiaries that include 1 cr healthcare and 2 cr frontline workers.”

The Union Health Minister visited the dry run out at the site of COVID-19 vaccination to review the situation. Earlier on Friday, he held a review meeting with the Delhi government for the preparation of the dry run of the COVID19 vaccination drive on January 2, via video conferencing.

In a virtual review meeting with Delhi government officials on Friday, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, “Let us attempt to implement it as a real exercise with attention to the minutest detail. Proper coordination will go a long way in building mutual understanding,” quoted The Indian Express.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a dry run for COVID-19 vaccine administration to be conducted in all States/Union Territories today in 116 districts across 259 sites.

Meanwhile, India registered 19,078 fresh cases of coronavirus which pushed the total tally to 1,03,05,788 in the nation. The active cases now stand at 2,50,183. With 22,926 new recoveries, as far as 99,06,387 patients recovered, and with 224 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 1,49,218.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 8,29,964 samples were tested yesterday and as far as 17,39, 41,658 samples have been tested till January 1.

As per Union Health and Welfare Ministry, the infection (Active) rate is 2.47 percent, the recovery rate has reached 96.08 percent and the death rate is 1.45 percent.

According to news agency ANI, the Subject Expert Committee of Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has recommended granting permission for Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) with certain conditions to COVID-19 vaccine being manufactured by Serum Institute of India.
